[these look tasty] especially your doughnut creation. a nice variation on croquembouche. i'm guessing you pre-ordered the doughnuts. was the staff amused when you mentioned what they were for?

No pre-ordering, and they didn't bat an eye when I asked for 12 dozen. Guess it's not that unusual for someone to need 144 doghnuts? And the kids who work at the KK in Daly City never seem amused by anything...

I'm actually not a big fan of wedding cake itself, usually pass on it when it comes by, but I did have a doughnut.

Wow, seems like a risk if they didn't have enough (although it would have made for a good story, running around to all the KK's buying up glazed doughnuts). D's made cakes for a few weddings. The more traditional ones have been from the wedding cake recipe in Marcel Desaulnier's Death by Chocolate, but he also made several chocolate raspberry cheesecakes for a wedding (spread out over a couple weeks and freezing them) and once he made 12 chocolate tortes over the course of three days (in a galley kitchen). That won't be happening again any time soon unless he has proper assistance and better kitchen facilities.

Wow, D's sound much more 'real' than mine! I don't know if I could handle that kind of stress and expectation.

I was looking for a picture of the KK glaze waterfall (just to show how high-throughput the KK is) and found so much more...

OK, the "track down cake pictures and get them online" project has officially started. It's recommended you have a napkin and glass of milk handy before viewing.

Yay! I was hoping that would happen.

Man, those look so good, and WOW!...but, where are the cheesecakes and galley kitchen pics?

Always wanting more... added a cheesecake picture and a couple others to the original collection. Also managed to find some kitchen pictures. Nothing showing the mess while making 12 cakes, as things were a little busy with cake production (and going to Laurie Anderson events and pre-wedding events). I think this collection is going to have to tide you over for a while.

I noticed that Amazon's stock count for Death by Chocolate went down by one. Coincidence, or did you order it?

Yup, that should do it! The DbC decrease wasn't me. But I was thinking of a 'Show us your cookbook shelf'-type Vox Hunt for certain people...

And I think I was taking things too literally (again). I thought you meant an actual galley kitchen, like on a boat or plane. I was trying to imagine turning those cakes out in a kitchen like this. Otherwise I wouldn't have subjected you to searching for pictures of your own kitchen :) I didn't realize it was used as a more general term, but it looks like that's what I've got too. Ah, small U-shaped kitchens...
