The first ones are all from around my place.
And freesia has already had its day, but it's what I got this week for flowers. It smells great!
When I stopped to buy wine yesterday, before the bird crapped on my car, I saw these big planters full of poppies on my way into BevMo. Bunches of bees were hanging around too, with big yellow pockets of pollen on their legs.
All.
Proteas are cool. They're giant and exotic looking. There's a place at the market that has them, and I've always meant to get a couple. Today I did.
Finally, I'm home long enough to get some flowers. This past week I saw bunches of dogwoods and wisteria in NC, but wasn't able to get any good pictures or bring any home. So sweet peas it is. They smell good, if a bit strong and sweet. I don't usually get them because they seem kind of fragile. I mixed them with some ranunculus this week.
And the cat with flowers shots...
There have been other pictures of tulips up, but they've never gotten to be FotW. So here it is. (And it goes nicely with katra's post too.) I bought some at the SF farmer's market last week, and some from the Viktualienmarkt in Munich this week. I mean, hey, if I'm going to be spending another week in this hotel room, I might as well brighten it up a little!
(Sorry for the overload of pictures. I've been feeling stressed by having a backlog of pictures to post, but haven't been able to decide which should go up, or have been lacking interesting text to go with them. Today, they all go up ~ good, bad, boring, indifferent, whatever.)

It has taken me way too long to upload these pictures. Last Sunday I got a bunch of daffodils at Trader Joe's. I say I got daffodils, but really it was just a handful of buds and stems. Within 3 days each one was wide open.
And then I played around with Photoshop on a couple...
I got irises and and tulips this week. Not super exciting, but they were the best looking things there.
Yesterday the irises were just a bunch of buds.
This morning they were all wide open. (They may be in the direct line of the heating vent...)

First, I had to take a picture for Norman, who is also a feline connoisseur of fine flowers:
(And a note for the humans, they just sniffed, I scooted them away before they could actually ingest any.)
Ranunculus (related to Buttercup):
This is the giant Christmas Cactus at my mother's house, covered in white lights.
Freesia. It's been looking a little iffy in the past couple months, yesterday it moved up to looking OK, so I decided to give it a try. I wish I could post the smell...
