Bill thinks I have a passion for flowers. I mean sure I like them, but I don't know if it's really a passion for flowers so much, I think it might just be that flowers are easy subjects with all the different colors and textures. And they're everywhere. And they don't require any model release forms. Like all of these I saw while walking the dog yesterday:
And one last one of little Lola puppy:
The first ones are all from around my place.
And freesia has already had its day, but it's what I got this week for flowers. It smells great!
When I stopped to buy wine yesterday, before the bird crapped on my car, I saw these big planters full of poppies on my way into BevMo. Bunches of bees were hanging around too, with big yellow pockets of pollen on their legs.
All.
Proteas are cool. They're giant and exotic looking. There's a place at the market that has them, and I've always meant to get a couple. Today I did.
Finally, I'm home long enough to get some flowers. This past week I saw bunches of dogwoods and wisteria in NC, but wasn't able to get any good pictures or bring any home. So sweet peas it is. They smell good, if a bit strong and sweet. I don't usually get them because they seem kind of fragile. I mixed them with some ranunculus this week.
And the cat with flowers shots...
I pried open one of the buds to get inside today and found this snail, and what I assume is snail poop:
I'm sure there is a line somewhere in the condo association CC&Rs about "thou shalt not molest the magnolias in the courtyard," but what the hell, no one caught me, and I managed not to fall in the fountain so it's all good. (I was however prepared to try and take pictures of myself falling into the fountain if it happened.)
Like Linda, I've been eying the magnolias blooming. (I lived in the South just long enough that in my head it sounds slow and drawn out "mag-know-yahs" but it would never come out of my mouth like that.) These are in the courtyard downstairs. As I was taking the pictures I was thinking of them as 'fuzzy buds' (see the last 3), which then made me laugh because, well, anything can sound dirty if you try hard enough. Sometimes it's nice to be able to keep yourself entertained without having to rely on anyone else.
I wanted to get some better macros of the inside, but it involves getting up on a slippery ledge, and it hasn't stopped raining long enough in the last 2 days for me to get back out there. Maybe this weekend...
